Einzelheiten: Kurzbeschreibung Mit Schumanns Konzert für Violoncello und Orchester sowie mit dem Klaviertrio in d-Moll erscheint die letzte Folge eines außergewöhnlichen Aufnahmeprojekts. Isabelle Faust (Violine), Alexander Melnikov (Klavier) und Jean-Guihen Queyras (Violoncello) haben zusammen mit dem Freiburger Barockorchester unter Pablo Heras-Casado erstmals sämtliche Solo-Konzerte und Klaviertrios auf historischen Instrumenten zusammen eingespielt. Im Mittelpunkt des letzten Teils steht das Cello von Jean-Guihen Queyras (Gioffredo Cappa, 1696). Das im Jahr von Schumanns Verstummen veröffentlichte Cellokonzert gelangte erst nach dem Tod des Komponisten zur Uraufführung, obwohl sich Clara Schumann energisch dafür eingesetzt hatte. Zu wenig idiomatisch, zu schizophren galt es vielen Virtuosen der Zeit. Zur Geltung gelangte es erst im 20. Jahrhundert, als man das zugleich düstere wie positive Werk besser zu verstehen begann. Doch erst das Spiel auf Darmsaiten und Originalinstrumenten zeigt, wie geschickt Schumann das Konzert instrumentiert hat, offenbart seine Transparenz und wahre klangliche Magie. (Andrew McGregor BBC Radio 3 Record Review, 2nd April 2016) Queyras gives an intimately conversational account of the Cello Concerto, never turning it into a virtuoso vehicle for its own sake, and persuades the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra under Pablo Heras-Casado to give him equally gentle, refined support. In the D minor Trio, both his and Faust s supplely expressive phrasing goes a long way towards mitigating Melnikov s tendency to over-assertiveness, too, though the pianist s playing is by no means one-dimensional and he conjures some delicate, silvery sonorities from the 1847 Streicher instrument that he has used throughout the series.
